      4. Description of the procurement:
         

         The offered equipment shall be used for cooling treatments on patients at Haukeland University Hospital. The patient group is newborns ≤ gestation age 36 weeks to adult patients. Full-body treatment with cooling suit or similar used for patients who do not have invasive cooling. The treatment follows national guidelines for hypothermia treatment.

         The aim of full-body cooling of newborns with asphyxia is to increase the chance of surviving without, or with minimal cerebral damage. The treatment protocol for children says 72 hours of cooling down to a body temperature of 33,5 degrees and then gradual warming up to normal temperature and stabilisation. In adult patients, the indications are primarily heart failure, high fribrillitation and neurosurgical/neurological patients.
