         Het monitoren en interpreteren van strandzwerfafval is een voortdurend proces. Inzage in de mate en trend van vervuiling van het marine milieu. Door het 4 maal jaarlijks op 4 stranden (Bergen, Noordwijk, Veere en Terschelling) op internationaal gestandaardiseerde en afgestemde wijze het strandafval te monitoren worden de aantallen van specifieke afvalitems, de totale aantallen en de trends hiervan in kaart gebracht.

         De werkzaamheden betreffen het handmatig verzamelen en tellen van afvalitems, turven met de meest recente OSPAR methode. Per transect van achterrand van het strand (landzijde) tot aan de waterlijn.
