Erratum: Correction of the Description: The South African Heritage Resources Agency (SAHRA) invites a suitably qualified and experienced funeral undertaker for transportation of skeletonised/skeletal human remains within Waterkloof Base on arrival on the 25th September from storage facility at Waterkloof to the home-coming ceremony venue, Freedom Park in Pretoria on the 27th of September, and back to storage after the ceremony. Scope of work: SAHRA in collaboration with the national Department of Sport, Arts and Culture, is currently in the process of implementing the repatriation of mortal remains of liberation struggle stalwarts who died in exile in Zambia between 1967 and 1991. The objective of is to repatriate these individuals back home to South Africa where a homecoming ceremony that will be held at Freedom Park, Pretoria, South Africa on the 27th of September 2024. The skeletal remains of the South Africans who died in exile would have arrived at the Waterkloof Base on the 25th September. The service provider will be expected to be on site from 16:00 to prepare for arrival. The remains will be packed in two-ply cardboard boxes measuring approximately 62cm x 32cm x 34cm, each wrapped in a South African Flag on arrival; during the home reception ceremony on the 25th of September; and when transported to storage. For the homecoming ceremony the remains will be in coffins; and the service provider may be required to assist with the handling of human remains. Scope of services: 1. The service provider is required to provide stands to place 54 individually boxed remains during the ceremonies on the 25th and 27th September. (The stands will remain as assets of the service provider), 2. The Service provider must ensure that transportation and storage of these skeletal human remains is compliant with relevant laws and regulations of the Republic, 3. The service provider mut facilitate the issuing of import permits for 54 human remains from the Department of Health and assist families with applications for Death certificate with the Department of Home Affairs.
