Quotations are hereby invited for the following: hiring a 50-ton centre mounted crane with 2 lifting hooks or equivalent mobile crane and rigging services for a period of 24 months in Richards Bay. Scope of work: For the purpose of this contract the ‘Works’ shall include the provision of a 50-ton centre mounted crane with 2 lifting hooks or equivalent mobile crane and rigging services for Transnet National Ports Authority-Lighthouses and Navigational Systems: Northeastern Region to be utilized for lifting and rigging work carried out within the confines of the Port of Richards Bay. Work specifications: - The service provider shall provide a 50-ton centre mounted crane with 2 lifting hooks for the purpose of lifting equipment, plant and machinery; - An equivalent mobile crane is acceptable but shall not have a safe working load of less than 50 tons; - In the event that a 50-ton mobile crane is not available, the contractor may utilise a mobile crane with 2 lifting hooks and with a higher safe working load provided that it is charged at the rate of a 50-ton mobile crane; - The service provider shall ensure that the Mobile crane is in good working order safe for use and roadworthy at all times; - The service provider shall provide an adequately trained, qualified and competent mobile crane operator; - The service provider shall cover all diesel, lubricants and other related running costs incurred by the mobile crane in the execution of the contract; - The service provider shall provide rigging services; - The rigging team shall be made up of 1 qualified rigger and 2 assistants; - The service provider shall provide adequately trained, qualified and competent Rigging personnel; - The service provider shall provide all required rigging equipment and PPE including life jackets that is safe for use; - The hours of hire for riggers shall match that of the crane; - The contractor shall stipulate the minimum hours that the mobile crane will be charged out at; - The contractor shall make the crane available within 3 working days of receiving the purchase order; - The service provider shall be granted access onto the premises to conduct Inspections for quotations when required with the Project Leader or a Lighthouse and Navigational Systems Representative present; - The contract shall be valid for a 24-month period or 400 hours, whichever occurs first.
