         • construction of raw water intake at the shore of Lake Victoria,

         • construction of raw water pumping station at the shore of Lake Victoria,

         • installation of raw water pipe between the raw water pumping station and Water Treatment Plant (WTP),

         • construction of Water Treatment Plant (WTP) comprising of:

         (a) aeration cascade (iron removal);

         (b) manganese removal;

         (c) remineralisation;

         (d) clarification (coagulation, flocculation, conventional settling);

         (e) gravity sand filters including backwash facilities;

         (f) administrative, chemical storage buildings;

         (g) automation — SCADA;

         (h) power supply, electrical facilities (including power saving equipment;

         (i) Miscellaneous works (roads, fences, landscaping), design and engineering;

      4. Description of the procurement:
         

         The contract is a FIDIC Yellow Book — Design and Build of Butimba Intake and Water Treatment Plant comprising of the following:

         • raw water pipeline from the Lake to the intake sump at the shore of Lake Victoria;

         • Butimba raw water intake structures and raw water pumping station at the shore of Lake Victoria;

         • raw water pipe between Butimba raw water pumping station and water treatment plant;

         • O&M: MWAUWASA project equipment and vehicles; and

         • Water Treatment Plant with a capacity to produce at least 40 000 m3/day.
